Take Me to Pick Out My Casket: Moxie
Tuesday Apr 20, 2021
Tuesday Apr 20, 2021
This week we bounce back from all the misogyny we witnessed in the last movie with Amy Poehler’s new feminist film, Moxie (2021). Join us as we discuss feminism and sexism today and obsess over Nico Hiraga’s perfect character, Seth.
Talking points: stupid Buzzfeed headlines, Netflix originals, the movie Thunder Force (2021), Ellen DeGeneres, Nico Hiraga, a message Olivia received from a friend about the movie, hating high school and loving high school rom-coms, intersectional feminism, sexism and feminism today, Patrick Schwarzenegger, how the patriarchy affects men, and how Seth is the Perfect Man.

Earth, Wind, & Fire Me Up: Saturday Night Fever
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
This week Olexa and Olivia review the iconic ‘70’s disco film, Saturday Night Fever (1977) and it sure does catch us off guard. What appears to be a fun and flirty disco movie turns into a much darker film that shows a harsh look at the reality of 70’s nightlife. Certainly not the movie we expected and we think it’s about time to move on from considering this film a classic.
Talking points: the story of how Film Gods Podcast came to be, Pete Davidson & Phoebe Dynevor, making a rom-com starring them, our love of disco music, Saturday Night Fever facts, being really excited to watch this movie and then discovering we actually really don’t like it.
Trigger warning: We discuss sexual assault, rape, gang rape, death and suicide in the second half of the episode.

We Have E.T. At Home: Mac and Me
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Double digits baby! This week Olivia picked an hour and a half long advertisement for McDonalds and Coca Cola that happens to also be a movie. An 80s cult classic that has been dubbed one of the worst films of all time, the film we review this week is Mac and Me (1988)!
Talking points: fun facts about Mac and Me, dunking on both E.T. and Mac and Me, saying that we are gonna absolutely hate this movie and then spending an hour talking about how we absolutely love it, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, all the problems we have with Mac’s ugly family, figuring out what powers these aliens hold, and the wild ending of this movie.

I'm a Little Ghost Boy: The Grudge
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
It’s been a hot minute since we’ve reviewed a horror movie on the pod so here you go! This week, Olexa and Olivia review the 2004 American version of the Japanese horror film, The Grudge. If we had to sum up our feelings about the film, we would go with a Youtube comment left on the trailer of the movie that said, “The Grudge is a good enough and sometimes very scary horror movie”.
Talking points: figuring out what our intro and outro should be, a weird insulation advertisement, Olexa explains the movie to Olivia because I guess she didn’t get it, 2000s horror movies, Olivia tries her hand at explaining the movie, cattitudes, what we would do if we heard something in the attic, Olivia’s fear of bungalows, comments on the trailer, and blisters. :)

Pain Do Hurt: Road House
Tuesday Mar 23, 2021
Tuesday Mar 23, 2021
We didn’t know this before this film but...we really like watching men fight in movies and let me tell you, this movie was chock-full of mind-blowing fight scenes. This week, thanks to the recommendation of Jimmy Fallon’s character in Fever Pitch (2005), we watched arguably the ‘80-est movie ever, Road House (1989).
Talking points: Road House fun facts, Olexa discovers the hotness of Sam Elliott, men with hair, cowboys, knives, cowboy fight moves, figuring out what a “roadhouse” is, casting our remake of Road House, Harry Styles’ Grammys look, the true-crime murder of Ken McElroy.
Olivia’s nicknames for people and who the actual characters are: Greasy Rat Boy = Jimmy played by Marshall Teague, Kermit the Frog = Brad Wesley played by Ben Gazzara

Drew Barrymore vs Baseball Smackdown: Fever Pitch
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Did you ask for another rom-com review? No? That’s okay because WE did. This week, Olexa was torn between two rom-coms to review (classic Pisces sun and Libra rising). Together, Olivia and Olexa decide to review the underrated romantic comedy, Fever Pitch (2005). Starring Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, this film made Olexa and Olivia the most invested in sports they have ever been in their life. Go sports!
Talking points: Olivia tries and fails to guess what the two movies are and who they include, declaring our love for Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore, pick-me girls, astrology, Jimmy Fallon’s birth chart, people who are obsessed with stuff (what’s up with that?!), working out, and Bill from Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again.

Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
You just can’t keep Olexa and Olivia away from rom-coms. This week they review a Tarantino fav, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009). Tune in and reminisce about sexism in the 2000s with us!
Talking points: the comment section for the trailer of Ghost of Girlfriends Past, 00s sexism, Jesus Christ (again), ghost girls and ghost pranks, Quentin Tarantino’s guilty pleasure, dad bods, icks, and putting the film up against the Bechdel Test.

Espionage Bender: Tenet
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
This week we attempt to review the classically mind-boggling Christopher Nolan film, Tenet (2020). This is a movie Olivia and Olexa wished included a dumb character that said, “Ummm...English please?!” so that they would get an explanation of what the hell just happened. The one thing that didn’t confuse us, is our feelings for Robert Pattinson. So press play and come swoon with us over Mr. Pattinson!
Talking points: spies, Kim Jong-un, Putin, star signs, soulmates, Harry Styles, Jude Law, Robert Pattinson, being confused, Olivia mixes up the words “tenent” and “tenet”.... so that’s embarrassing.

The Friends We Made Along the Way: National Treasure
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
In this episode, Olexa and Olivia review the action packed adventure film starring Nicolas Cage, National Treasure (2004).
Talking points: Olivia incorrectly names movies she watched in Grade 10 Geography class (she meant Dante’s Peak not Dante’s Inferno and Today’s Tomorrow is not a real movie, she meant The Day After Tomorrow), space movies, peeing in space, plot twists, and being nervous to review the movie National Treasure.
